A cross-disciplinary exploration of expressive storytelling through Indian classical dance
Abhinaya Lab 1.0 presents a compelling evening of Indian classical dance featuring seven accomplished artists from diverse traditions, each presenting a unique interpretation of Abhinaya—the nuanced art of expression and storytelling in dance. The performance will be followed by insightful discussions and interactive exchanges with the participating Gurus and artists, offering diverse perspectives on storytelling through movement, gesture, and emotion across different classical forms.

Arts Without Borders, a 501(c)(3), in collaboration with Anga Kala Kathak Academy and Anga Kala Dance Company, presents RASA DARPANA, Reflection of Emotions. The event has been supported in part by the Cuyahoga Arts and Culture Grant. The event showcases 'Nava Rasa', exploring the nine fundamental emotions of human experience, followed by a captivating interpretation of the timeless tale of Cinderella, presented through innovative Kathak choreography.

In the spirit of learning & enjoy, on July 17th, 2016 for the first time in Columbus OH, Arts without Borders is honoured to host the special event where the Legendary Kathak dancer Pundit BIRJU MAHARAJ and his company will showcase the ancient dance form. He is the leading exponent of KATHAK dance from India. For his immense contribution to Kathak dance and for reviving this ancient dance form that dates back to 2000 B.C., Panditji has been awarded numerous prestigious awards and multiple honorary Doctorate degrees. He has extensively toured all over the world astonishing audiences wherever he goes. A recipient of India’s second highest civilian award – Padma Vibhushan - Pandit Birju Maharaj is a living legend and an institution himself.
